I am so happy to have found the Yoga Upstairs studio! Previously I had tried yoga at larger fitness centers and never got the proper training and alignment. I was injured trying to keep up with the instructors who gave no guidance whatsoever. So when a girlfriend recommended Yoga Upstairs about 1 1/2 years ago, I was so pleased to find wonderful instructors who have given me the finest place to practice yoga in a more intimate setting. There are several types of instruction ranging from restful, restorative yoga to classic Iyengar to Hatha flow. My favorite instruction is from the master Sri Hari who is ever patient and kind. He makes sure each student is properly aligned and balanced, and does so with warmth and humor. He brings much wisdom to his classes about life and yoga, which I have found very useful. He has given me poses and techniques to work on at home which has enabled me to deepen my practice. This studio has helped me achieve new levels of flexibility and strength that I wouldn’t have believed possible. If you are experiencing any stiffness or pain, this is the place to joyfully work your way through it, and learn from the best. The cost for these services is very reasonable and the instruction very high level. I feel so lucky to have found Yoga Upstairs!

I like going to Yoga Upstairs because I feel loving and calm there and I have my needs for connection, acceptance, community, and physical-spiritual-mental well-being met when I am there. I feel grateful for the connection I have with Sri Hari Moss. Sri Hari meets my needs for compassion, connection, being listened to and being seen. I feel appreciative that Sri Hari has spent time learning the spiritual practice of yoga and that he brings it into the practice. I also feel warm, thankful, and moved, restored, and revived when my needs for loving-kindness, wisdom, and care are met in the yoga practice. I feel satisfied and relieved because Sri Hari knows every person who comes to class, what they do and personal lives and this meets my needs for community and care. I also enjoy that there are yoga hikes, yoga on the beach, and kirtans, and that there are other social ways to combine nature with yoga, this meets my needs for being in nature, exploration, and community.

For the past three years, I have been grateful for the sanctuary that is my afternoons with Sri. Many times, I have been the only attendee, or one of a couple, for our noon classes. So it is with great reluctance that I help spread the word. I like it as is. But the truth is, Sri is a fabulous, caring and deeply spiritual man and instructor. Come join us.

I have been practicing yoga at Yoga Upstairs for several years. Initially, I learned in the Iyengar style with Cara Sorkin. That proved to be an incredible foundation to build on and gave me tools to use in all types of yoga and that will last a lifetime. The attention to precision and perfection in the asanas is a focus very worthy of undertaking. It is not always easy, but Cara and now Rebecca Lascoe do a wonderful job in making it approachable to the everyday citizen. Cara had her work cut out for her as I was brand new to yoga as well as physically ill and hurting, but she undertook the task of easing me into a practice while taking all my “personals” into consideration with care.
When I was strong enough, I began attending Sri Hari’s class in addition to Cara’s. This was an exciting and invigorating supplement that diversified my practice. Sri’s classes flow with strong, positive energy. Sri is knowledgeable in numerous breathing techniques and has helped me learn to apply them in my practice as well as my personal life.
I am so glad to have found Yoga Upstairs and eternally grateful to Eloise for providing a place like this to exist. Everyone who comes will be welcomed and enriched in any number of ways.”
